Throughout his forty year career, Dan Adams has been at the leading edge of the Midwest hair fashion scene. He has been featured by the news media as a hair design platform artist in Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, Chicago, Detroit, Grand Rapids, and Holland, Michigan. Dan Adams has also trained with some of the world's top trainers, such as The Vidal Sassoon Academy, Toni & Guy, The Chadwick's, Paul Mitchell, and Martin Parsons. His Continuing Education has taken him to L.A., Chicago, New York, and London, England.
Dan's most notable alliance was his personal friendship with the late Paul Mitchell of Paul Mitchell Systems. Dan worked onstage with Paul Mitchell at the Novi Hilton and the Amway Grand in 1986 and is credited with introducing the West Michigan Shoreline to the Paul Mitchell Systems product line.
In the mid-eighties Dan began to explore fashion photography in order to better showcase his work and build his reputation. In his advertising campaigns, Dan wanted the public to see the kinds of styles they were accustomed to seeing in popular fashion publications, and then recognize that the model was local and that Dan Adams was the designer who had done the work. Dan's advertising campaigns were a huge success and earned him almost five full pages of editorial press.
Not only did Dan's photography become useful for his advertising campaigns, but Dan quickly realized photography was teaching him to be even more creative, and it was producing head-turning results. Before Dan knew it, he found himself in the photography business. With a darkroom and studio on location at the salon, Dan Adams was in the glamour shot business long before it became a popular mall concept. Every day more and more great models kept showing up, wanting their hair cut and photos taken. And so, Dan's reputation was galvanized as one of West Michigan's seasoned and truly great hair designer/photographers.
Today, in his new digs, Friends Salon and Spa in Holland, Michigan, Dan continues to enjoy designing hair, photographing people, and sharing his knowledge with his fellow colleagues at the cutting edge of West Michigan?s fashion scene!
